Wakako is a registered architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional, with over 20 years of experience in executing international award winning projects. After a decade of pouring passion and dedication to WT Architecture, Wakako has gained a reputation for her responsive, conscientious and rational design. Wakako's minimalistic and poetic aesthetics is distinct and consistent in the firm's work. 

Prior to founding Wakako Tokunaga Architecture in 2007, Wakako worked as a project architect at worldly acclaimed architecture firms such as Shigeru Ban Architects, Suzane Reatig Architecture, and RTKL Associates, Inc.

Wakako resides in Takoma Park, Maryland with her husband and three children.
